Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the GI tract, reaching peak levels in 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Contraindications
Paracetamol crosses the placenta and enters breast milk so caution should be used during pregnancy. Caution should be used in those with hepatic disfunction or chronic alcoholism due to toxic effects on liver.
Adverse effects
Headache, renal disfunction, skin rash, fever, hepatotoxicity due to overdose.

Indication
Paracetamol is an analgesic and an antipyretic used to relieve moderate or mild pain or fever in a variety of settings.
Pharmacodynamics
Mechanism of action
The mechanism of action related to the analgesic effects of paracetamol has not yet been identified. It acts directly on the thermoregulatory cells in the hypothalamus to cause sweating and vasodilation; which causes the release of heat and lowers fever.
