        Trial Failure: Oral aerosolized steroids (treating eosinophila)

        candidiasis often presents as Oral Thrush w/ esophagitis
        
        oral candidiasis alone is tx w/ squish and spit nystatin
        
        BUT oral thrush w/ esophagitis must be infectious: Fluconazole
        
        HSV
        
        pt: Oral lesions
        
        Tx: acyclovir or valacyclovir
        
        CMV
        
        Pt: no oral lesions, must biopsy
        
        Tx: Valacyclovir/Acyclovir/Gancyclovir
        
        HIV
        
        Pt: opportunistic infections
        
        These are AIDS defining
        
        Start HAART
        
        DX: :telescope:EGD w/ biopsy
        
        Tx: Abx
        
        :pill:pill gets stuck (causing inflammation by contact)
        
        culprits
        
        non-enteric coated NSAIDs
        
        Abx: Tetracyclines
        
        Bisphophonates
        
        HIV: ARVs
        
        DX: :telescope: EGD w/ biopsy
        
        remove pill if found (rare)
        
        Give pt time to heal, give PPI
        
        Prophy: avoid recumbency and drink glass of H2O w/ ea pill
- - - - but acid can worsen inflam of any cause
        
        Antacid
        
        PPI (usually correct answer)
