high narrow rise = echo/interrogative questions = listener hasn't heard the speaker's words correctly or is surprise at what he has heard or wants to gain time before answering
low/mid wide rise or fall-rise preceded by high prenuclear part = shows speakers's interest in listener = FRIENDLY GENERAL questions
high fall preceded by high prenuclear part = gives the question a note of suggestion, offer, invitation
low fall preceded by high prenuclear part = gives an insistent or a skeptical note to the question (when the speaker is not satisfied with the listener's answer or when he is sure of the negative reply)
