Uvic Astrophotography Club
Funding
Funding from UVic
AWAITING RESPONSE FROM PERSON ABOUT REGISTRATION
Funding Generated Externally
Stickers via RedBubble.com from popular/good pictures we've taken, as well as just our logo
Bakes Sales (c'mon star cookies are cute)
Magnets, pins, mugs with pictures on them, etc (possible small online merchandise shop online>> ask Chris/VP, he's done this before)
Raffles to win astrophotography equipment
T-Shirts with cute puns like in PHASERS (We all need a little space, I'm better looking as a sky-entist, 'Space enthusiast, etc) There are external stores that can print this stuff for us at cost.
Sponsorship
: Other clubs managed to get funding from sponsors, what's stopping us from getting funding from Celestron?
Outreach
Partly from the above Funding options
Posting amateur photos on the website with their credit
Tutorial on how to edit your own photos
Print things/pulltabs to display in the lobby of BWC and Elliot
Attending monthly meetings (TBD) and community involvement (I have no idea wtf I mean by this, I probs mean attend)
Let's try to include other events that don't particularly directly involve Astrophotography by itself. It could be analagous to a pizza/board-game night held by PHASERS
Activities
Hosting our own Star Parties (bi-weekly or monthly?)
Cattle Point?
Roof of Bob Wright
With RASC folks on Observatory Hill? (Highly unlikely)
Hosting Image reduction seminars/tutorials
(I only suggest this because people may want to know how it is done by themselves. In terms of the future of the club, me must pass on our skills to younger years so that they can make the club continue after graduation)
Website Material
(apparently we need one of these, the original is depricated and attached to Nic Annau as a student, which I'll assume we can't use.
Need Website! External or Internal? (By internal I meant that UVic has server space for students, so any student could use their personal server space for this; External would be obviously our own domain, which is quite a process and UVic's funding would pay for the server.)
Online Store? (Place to sell the stuff we have by quantity or by links that forward them to RedBubble, etc)
Posting Photos in a Gallery
whether or not we have a website given to us via UVic, we will use this to place member pictures. You may ask how we can prevent copyright infringement, this can be done pre-uploading member photos, OR place your own copyright at the corner of each image. See this for example:
https://rascvic.zenfolio.com/
Bulletin on the upcoming events of the club. Meetings, heading out to 'such-and-such' area on this date, etc.
Will funding cover transportation?
