Agile Decision making in Project
Management
Problem: Information is available faster and from more sources than ever before, which makes decision-making seem easier.
But if you combine this information onslaught with traditional types of business decision-making, it will make your process slower and more frustrating.
A new way of making Decisions
Making decisions in an agile way means working iteratively, collaboratively, and with transparency vs having a task force craft a solution, the project manager present it, and executives come to a consensus
agile decision-making is a process that is collaborative, iterative, and transparent. It means all stakeholders are updated on assigned tasks at regular intervals, they give feedback, and then the team knows what needs to be changed or improved. The team discusses issues together and comes up with a solution together.
Working in an agile method means making iterative progress and changes as an empowered and self-organizing team.
Empower the project team to deliver what the customer wants. Team checks in with customer frequently.
Tip #1: Gather iterative feedback
Tip #2: Balance alignment and autonomy
Tip #3: Get comfortable with good enough
Tip #4: Place time limits on decisions
Tip #5: Don’t get sloppy - use cademce

Understand the different decision making models used in the context, we can find constructs that work for both sides.
he amount and speed of information availability has exceeded human – and organizational – capabilities to cope with it.
essentially anyone in an organization could take leadership and drive decision making within an area
Companies, that learn how to distribute decision making and make it more effective, have a significantly better chance to keep up with today’s speed and thus be commercially successful.
ALIGNMENT: what is needed, to enable people and teams to take their own, local decisions in such a way, that we do not end up in a chaos on company level?
The answer is: alignment. If people and teams are aligned on the overall vision and direction, they can take their own decisions without creating a big chaos
Agile uses team collaboration as the primary method to create alignment and ensure communication
team plans together, communicates at least on a daily basis and celebrates success together. And the team is also responsible to set appropriate policies, such as the Definition of Done.
Policies are set via Retrospectives; Mature Agile teams usually have developed a strong culture of retrospectives
