Providing a safe and comfortable home
Problems
Comfort - Having a place to store items such as pencils and worktop equipment will allow the user to know where to find their possessions when required.
Desk Tidy
Drawer
Box
Pencil Case
Safety - Edges and corners of tables are usually sharp 90 degree angles that can injure people as they bump into it or accidentally fall into it.
Table with round edges
Table with obtuse angles so they stick out less
Safety - When lights break it can get too dark to see the surroundings.
Lamp
Torch
Comfort - Furniture can be wrongly measured, so the user does not have enough space for their comfort.
Chair
Table/desk
Jacket holder
Solutions
Make angles bigger
Make edges round
Make corners round
Increase the size of a product
Make a product that stores equipment
If a home is to be safe, it must contain products that cause little to no harm whether they are used properly or abused. For example, A table with round edges is safe because it will not cause as much damage as a table with sharp edges. If they want to be comfortable, they should be able to use the product without difficulty or struggle. For example, a chair could be uncomfortable because it does not have long enough legs or a wide enough seat.
Working towards a sustainable future
Solutions
Remake products using different materials that are renewable
Remake products using materials that are biodegradable
Provide alternative products with the same functions, but using different materials such as wood, plastic and metal.
Remake products using processes that require less energy from machines, and do more by hand.
Problems
Many products are made from plastic, and it is non-renewable. This means the product cannot be made/grown over and over again (the supply is limitless).
A lot of products exist that are non-biodegradable (they do not break down naturally in the environment). Many of these products that are thrown away stay where they are thrown for years.
For the future to be sustainable, we must be using better materials such as wood and bamboo. These materials can be grown again and again, making them more sustainable to use. Plastic is not sustainable because there is a limited supply of crude oil in the earth to make plastic with.
A high-profile activity or occasion
Solutions
Create propaganda such as posters, leaflets or pamphlets to spread awareness of the event
Create a rack that will hold the information brochures so that they aren't affected by the environment and reduce the effort required by the workers.
Problems
Advertising
Sometimes people want a lot of people to attend a certain event so they can earn money, however people don't attend because they don't know about the event.
Advertisements can come in many different forms:
TV
Leaflet
Pamphlet
Brochure
Poster
Newspaper
Mail
Magazine
There aren't any racks to holds leaflets and pamphlets, and so workers are stuck holding them for hours on end with little to no breaks. Also, there is the risk that the environment will contribute to the destruction of the leaflets, such as the wind blowing them away or the rain causing them to become weak and rip easily.
For an activity or occasion to be high-profile, it must be widely known about. Additionally, there could be a product made specifically for these occasions to help make something easier, for example, a cake holder, a cup holde, a storage facility.
