Mechanism to indicate a false start
Aesthetic
simplistic/modern/contemporary
Cover design could look like a running shoe because it is aimed towards runners
Customer
This product will be marketed towards athletes and particularly those who partake in running events
The age demographic would likely be from 15 to 33 as 15 is around the time when kids would get recruited and 33 is the average retirement age.
Environment
Although it is not easily recyclable, I am aiming to make it so that my product will be durable and long-lasting.
Cost
Because the cost of production will be around £10-£15, I will price the product at £50-£60 in order to make a profit whilst still being relatively cheap in comparison to other performance-measuring products.
Safety
The pressure plate needs to be inserted correctly so it doesn't disrupt the runner.
No wires should be exposed
The circuit board needs to be properly installed so it doesn't electrocute anyone
Size
It needs to be of an appropriate size that can fit perfectly on a the starting blocks
Around 70x100mm
Function
The runner will be on the pressure pad which will sound a buzzer if they were to have a false start.
The pressure pad will have a circuit board in it which will send a signal to the buzzer and make a noise
Materials
When actually manufacturing the product, I would use stainless steel to use as a cover for the circuit board as it will not corrode
I could implement acrylic into my prototype as it is easy to shape and mould.
