Causes of the Holocaust
Kristallnacht- gave an excuse to be violent towards Jews and made murder of them more acceptable amongst Germans.

Legislation- it made the persecution of Jews legal. (1935 Nuremberg laws made marriage between Germans and Jews illegal, etc).

Anti-semetism had a large history in Europe, but Hitler made it popular again.
He most likely hated Jews because of his history with them- his late mother's doctor was a Jew and all the artist employers who didn't accept Hitler were also Jewish.
