What were the July Days?
Sailors at the Kronstadt Naval Base organised their own armed demonstration. They spread to the centre of Petrograd. Lenin could not condemn the action nor support it
The Provisional government brought in reinforcements to crush the demonstration. Bolsheviks were blamed as they helped force demonstrators out of the fortress. They also played a role in negotiating the disarming and arrest of the sailors.
Lenin and Stalin fled. Trotsky and Kamenev were imprisoned. 8 July, Kerensky replaced Prince Lvov as Prime ministers and it appeared that the Bolsheviks moment had passed
