Gathers info about the task at hand
Design
consults with subject matter expert
determines clear and measurable learning outcomes
selects media to deliver instruction
design approach to assessment and eval
designs general approach to learning activities
Development
design is executed
activities and supporting media are fully developed
Implementation
delivery of instruction
Evaluation
starts during implementation (formative) [forming plan]
purpose is to improve instruction during implementation
ends with completion of instruction (summative)
purpose is to determine how well the learner did in meeting the learning outcomes

Creative Problem Solving Models
Attributes of a Creative Problem Solving Model
Uses a series of logical steps to help a group identify the most important causes of a problem and the best solution for addressing them.
Keeps the process more scientific and less susceptible to individual biases and perceptions.
Enables a group to consider all possible causes of a problem and all possible solutions.
Helps the group arrive at a justifiable solution.
Can have limited or many steps, simple or complex, formal or informal.
Vacillates between convergent and divergent activities.
Is presented linearly but often times is iterative, nonlinear, and organic.

7 Step Process
Accept
accept the situation or problem that your design will be addressing
committing to the problem
Analyze
analyze the subject matter to have a better understanding of the problem
once committed to approaching to the problem, must learn more about it
Define
define the constraints in which you have to work and specify objectives for addressing the problem
What is it that we're trying to overcome about this problem?
Will help us know what we need
Ideate
brainstorm ideas for solutions that address the previously defined objectives, working within the parameters that have been determined
look at all the parameters within the definition stage and come up with all ideas. thinking wildly, having fun with it
Select
select the best ideas that were generated in the brainstorming phase and resolve them further with more in depth planning
take all ideas and try to distill them, "synthesize" them into the best idea
Implement
implement prototypes of your best ideas that were outlined in teh selection phase
come up with our ideas, select what we'd like to use, so now start crafting our ideas
Evaluate
test and evaluate the prototypes that have been implemented, returning to the previous phase to make revisions and re-test. repeat as necessary
