UNIT 1
The building blocks of faith are:
Believe Know and Trust
Believe: We cannot see God but we know in our hearts that God exists. We see his presence and work in all of the creations
Know: Knowing God means knowing his love. God is the source of all love.
Trust:God always keeps his promises. We can trust in His Word and his love for us. :
What is Faith? Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrew 11:1 KJV Bible
The Angels:The angels are God's messengers and they continually praise God and and give him glory
The Archangels: They are among higher ranking in heaven and are named in the sacred scripture.
St.Michael: Because he fought against Satan and continues to defend protect us from evil.
St.Gabriel appears as a messenger in the bible three times : to Daniel,to Zachariah,and,and to Mary. He was the messenger of God who announced the birth of Jesus to Mary. His words,"Hail, full of grace" are part of our hail Mary prayer.
St.Raphael: The name
Raphael
in Hebrew means" God has healed". In the book of Tobit, we learn that St. Raphael healed Tobit's blindness and cared for an traveled

Free will is the ability to make our own choices through which we determine we will be
God's covenant with his people
What is a COVENANT'?
A covenant is an agreement between God and his People. Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
Leviticus 26:42 (KJV)
God's Covenant with Noah. A few generations after Adam and Eve, sinful choices were destroying all that was good. God decided to wash away the wickedness by using a flood. Noah had a good heart and God promised to save him and his family and God did, he told Noah to get on the ark with pairs of each animal and get on the boat with his family and set out to sea and God kept them safe and when they came back Noah made an altar and gave a sacrifice
God's Covenant with Abraham. Abraham and Sarah wanted a family but they were very old. God saw that Abraham was a very faithful man. He promised to bless Abraham and make the father of many nations. He believed in God's promise. After many, many years God blessed them with a son called Isaac. God made the covenant with Abraham that he would be God's chosen holy nation :star::star::star2:
God's covenant for Moses. Several Hundred years after the time of Abraham and Sarah, In Egypt, the Pharoah ruled Egypt and took the Israelites as their slaves and made them do all the work including building pyramids. But Moses was an Israelites disguised as a prince of Egypt and his father as the Pharoah and Moses did not like the way his people were treated so he ran away and killed an Egyptian and he went to his uncles and he helped him take care of the sheep and one day he saw a burning bush that wasn't actually burning and someone was talking It was God and he told Moses to take his people to the promised land
God's Covenant with Moses (Pt 2) God also Promised that they will be wealthy and happy and have food. He also promised them that they will be delivered to the promised land safely
God's Covenant with David. God promised David that his Messiah would come from his descendants
Liturgy is both communal and official. It is a prayer done with others. Liturgy follows approved worship outlined by the Church

The works of Mercy
Corporal works of Mercy (Matthew 25:35-40) There are 7 corporal works of Mercy they are : Feed the Hungry, help the imprisoned ,bury the dead, clothe the naked, care for the sick,shelter the Homeless, and give drink to the tirsty
Spiritual works of Mercy. There are seven spiritual works of mercy, they are: Pray for the living and the dead, share knowledge, give advice to those who need it, comfort those who suffer, be patient with others forgive those who hurt you, give correction to those who need it

Advent is a time of waiting for the birth of Christ

Advent Symbols remind us that Jesus is coming and that He brings us Good News for this life hope for salvation in the next
The candles help us think about our journey in prayer and reflection over the four weeks of Advent
The evergreens help us think about God's everlasting love. God is eternal, with no beginning and no end
The Light from the candles helps us think about how Jesus brightens our world
Mass is a meaningful way to pray together
We begin Mass with the Ritual of lighting the candles on the Advent Wreath
The colour purple helps us think about our longing for the completeness of Jesus in our lives
Church will often place the baby Jesus in the Manger on Christmas Day
We sing Advent songs, carols, and hymns as we wait with joy
We often read scriptures and passages about the events leading up to Jesus' birth
The Jesse Tree is a family ,the family tree of Jesus
Charity
Charity is the habit of showing love to God and others. It is God's power of love at work within us and through us. It is his love, and, because of it we love our neighbors as ourselves It helps us grow in holiness. The more we exercise charity, the more our love for God and others grow
A person who dedicated her life to charity is St. Teresa of Calcutta. She dedicated her life to serving the homeless poor, sick, and dying with great tenderness and dignity,
