table manners are very important in any community. of course they sre different in every country. however there're still some basic rules of etiquette which apply nearly to every country

after cutting your meat, you switch the fork to your right hand, and place your knife on the plate
you keep your fork in your left hand, the knife remains in your right hand
resting position = you place the knife at the top of your plate the blade facing in. the fork is placed below the knife on the plate with handle on the right hand side

i'm finished = place your knife and fork side by side in the middle of the plate with handles resting on the plate
b - bread, m - meal, w - water/wine
there're many other rules of etiquette and table manners in the civilized world, but these are some of the basic ones. try to follow it if you don't want to be humiliated or to look impolite
