What it is
the ava ceremony is to welcome guest or schools. we would thank them for coming or attending the welcoming in our culture or a celebration. the ava ceremony is basically led by their teacheror a high chief from their village. For the Ava ceremony it is usually open at noon with a feast and a celebration.
The cup - ipu tau'ava
The cup is used for the drinking of the ava. The cup is made out of the half shell of a ripe coconut and it is cleaned and polished. The samoan name for this cup is tauau or generally ipu tau'ava.
