Ava Water
Its made with the Ava plant also known as PIper methysticum
Its mixed in a Tanoa
The Taupou sits behind the tanoa and mixes the Ava water with a fau/ Hibiscus tiliaceus.
Behind the taupou is the taule'ele'a it is a group made out of three to four men that help the taupou make the ava water
The man/boy who stands behind the right shoulder of the taupou is could a tafau his job is to catch the fau when the taupou throws is over her right shoulder and rinse it out
How do they speak?
They project their voice
They memorize most of their Lauga
They speak Clearly
If there are more then one guests you have to ask the other Guests if you can do a Fa'atau which means that you speak on behalf of both of you (Only if there are two guests) To thank the hosting village or school or church ETC
Normally after the Ava Ceremony there is a reciprocal exchange of kupe or meaalofa/ money and gifts
Who is it led by?
The Ava Ceremony is led by a high chief of the hosting village
It is begun with words of welcome well the guests sit cross legged on the floor
Ava Ceremonies can be seven hours or longer
The drink is received in a ipu tau ava

The Tautuava- The male who gives out the Ava Water
The Tufa'aava- The Male who calls out who to give the Ava water to
The Taule'ale'a- The group of three to four males who stand behind the taupou and help her make the Ava Water
The Taupou- Her Job is to make the Ava Water and sit up straight and look pretty
The Tafau-The male who stands behind the Taupous right shoulder and rinses the fau
The Fale Upolu- The oldest chiefs who talk in the Ava Ceremony
The Ali'is- The people that receive the Ava water
