PROBLEM OF FOOD ADDITIVES
additives - special substances added to food for a number of reasons (to improve flavor, or add more colour)
Most of these additives have a number. Many of the numbers have an E in front of them. Some of these E numbers are colours, some are preservatives, others are thickeners, or sweeteners
The EEC intends to establish a list of additives which are acceptable
much of our food is processed = contains additives
possible effect of additives on certain users = may cause certain people to feel unwell, or suffer from allergies and they can cause children to behave in abnormal ways
in the modern world you can’t avoid consuming food with additives at all
Doctors advise to avoid eating food with a large amount of additives. For example, to sweeten tea, doctors recommend using jam or honey instead of sugar
