BASIC MANAGEMENT FUNCTION
PLANNING: ESTABLISHING ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS AND DECIDING ON HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THEM.
MISSION: A statement of an organisation's basic purpose that makes an organisation different from others.
STRATEGIC PLANS: Setting goals and objectives and how to allocate the resources to achieve these goals.
GOAL: An end result that an organisation is expected to achieve at the end of a period (usually a year)
Proper Goals: Consistent, set at every level, not in conflict
OBJECTIVE: A specific statement detailing what an organization intends to accomplish over a shorter period.
TYPES OF PLANS
PLAN: An outline of an organisation's goals and objectives and how they intend to use resources to achieve these goals.
STRATEGIC: A broad plan that gives guidlines for major ploicy setting and decision making
TACTICAL: A smaller plan to implement strategy.
Operational: A smaller scale plan to implement tactical plan.
Contingency Plan: A plan of alternative course if one of the otherplans are not working or are not effective.
ORGANIZING
Grouping and using resources to accomplish some result.
LEADING AND MOTIVATING
Leading: Leading people to work hard towards a common goal
Motivating: Providing reasons for people to work hard for the best interest of the organization.
Directing: Combination of leading and motivating.
CONTROLLING
Evaluating and regulating ongoing activities to see if goals are being reached.
Controlling function.
