Aptitude - Ability to learn, assessing skill
Personality - Common, varied results
Staff Training - Training for the staff so they can learn their profession/trade or learn a skill. Eg. Programming language/software
Remuneration - Disparity of pay. Public sector is lower pay with annual increments and scales. Private sector has equal pay among employees and job evaluation
Appraisal Schemes - Regular meetings with manager for review, given objectives. Appraisal for meeting those objectives
Redundancy/Dismissal - HR is responsible for dealing with. Ensure dismissal is for a valid reason and procedure followed. Rewards for unfair dismissal
Dismissal Procedure - Reasons in writing, meeting. Can be appealed by employee (2004-09). No set procedure, ACAS code used as a guide (2009)
Redundancy - Law entitles employees to minimum compensation. Consultation if more than 20 employees. Difficult who to decide to make redundant
Constructive Dismissal - Company behaves to employee in a way that they feel they should resign. Often unfair
Transfer of Undertakings, Protection of Employment - Laws governing when one company takes over another. Auto become employees of new company, must respect old employment rules
Equality Act 2010 - Ensures equality between different people. Anti-discrimination, equal pay and conditions

ISP as conduit - Does nothing more than transmit data. Cannot initiate transmissions or modify them. Not responsible for civil or criminal actions
ISP as caching device - Provides automatic, temporary storage of data to improve transmissions. Not liable provided it doesn't modify data and complies with conditions. Must block transmission if it was removed at source or given an order by high court
ISP as host - Not liable if didnt know anything unlawful was happening, tried to remove anything unlawful
Extradition - Crime committed in country A, moved to B. Criminal can only be arrested in B if its also illegal in B. Sent back to A. Extraditions often fail
Internet Boundaries - If you live in A and publish legal website which is illegal in B. You cannot be prosecuted in A. Highly unlikely to be extradited to B
International Convention of Cybercrime - Child porn, copyright infringement, computer fraud, religious and racial hatred etc.
Defamation - Statements which damage a person's reputation. Defamation Act (1996) defends anyone who is not the author of a publication or did not know of the contents
Pornography - Possession is not illegal. Publication and distribution is. Child porn is highly illegal in most countries. Main concern is children accessing porn
Internet Watch Foundation - UK body, support of ISPs, police and government. Monitors and takes action against internet content

Moral Philosophy - Asks basic questions like what is good/bad. Is not practical and does not tell us what to do

Virtue Ethics - Originated in Ancient Greece. Based on courage, honesty, friendship, happiness etc

Utilitarianism - 1780 AD. An action is right if it promotes happiness. Choose the option that gives most happiness. Ignores the needs of an individual
Law - Uses utilitarianism, enforces happiness for society. Notable exceptions eg taxes which fund medical treatments

Duty Ethics - If you want to be healthy, exercise. Morality
Categorical Imperative - Treat. others how you would like to be treated. Treat people as ends, never means. Act as a community
