Protozoans
1) Discuss the significance of protozoan infections: morphology and pathogenesis; life cycles and transmission pathways; single and multiple hosts.
(2) Describe common protozoal infections including: Malaria (Plasmodium species), Toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii), Amebiasis (Entamoeba histolytica), Trichomoniasis (Trichomonas vaginalis), Trypanosomiasis (Trypanosoma species).
Helminths
(1) Discuss the significance of helminth infections: morphology and pathogenesis; life cycles and transmission pathways, single or multiple hosts.
(2) Describe common helminthic infections: intestinal nematodes (Enterobiasis, Ascariasis), Tissue Nematodes (Trichinosis), Cestodes, Trematodes (Paragonimiasis, Clonorchiasis, Schistosomiasis).
