Raksha Bandhan: the importance of sisters and brothers in India
What is Raksha Bandhan
Raksha = protection
Bandhan = to tie
festival between brothers and sisters -> also cousins considered as sisters and brothers
sister: ties a "rakhi" (tiny bracelet) on her brother's wrist in order to pray for his prosperity+health
brother: in return offers a gift + promises to protect his sister under any circumstances
Sacred link between sisters/brothers
in India family is right under gods: almost considered as some
family most of the time stays together
live in the same house/appartement: parents + grandparents + children
live in the same streets to get to see each other very often
if not, see each other during any festivals as this one
Raksha Bandhan shows importance of family
sister protected by brother
special link: each other so much important pray for each ther as they pray gods
by the way the consider each other, they are as important as gods, as heros in their minds by giving protection to each other
Intro
idea of hero: superheros for children (cf. movies/novels) -> these are unreal
myths: traditionnal stories that sometimes involve gods OR a story made by a mix between unreal and reality
there are real heros that inspire children, but who are they? How do heros appear in real life?
Conclu
By these three ways, heors appear in real life by being normal people who made or not actions that could be considered as myths. But we also consider someone as a hero by the way we consider this person, as in India.
