Special Education Process at YK Pao School
Provide necessary support in lessons/exams to support the identified struggling student
Give special exam arrangements and extra time if needed
Require teachers to provide more visual tools in the classroom
Academic Monitoring Cards:
daily teacher feedback completed on an active online word document. Teachers provide feedback and recommendations for students based on the students action plan
Investigate signs of struggling students through investigtion
Classroom Observation:
look for behavior issues, attendance rate, discipline record, grades, and social interaction (looking for isolation)
Establish regular observation in lessons to determine intervention
External Professional Support
Clear lines of Communcation
-Weekly updates/information sharing from teachers on student progress
Counseling intervention from school counselor when needed
student-teacher communication is vital for struggling students. Teachers need to provide constructive feedback on student progress
teacher-parent communication is key in allowing parents to become the necessary support structure at home
Recommend external support based on school counselors recommendations
-Speech Therapists
Educational psychologists
Psychiatrists
Re-evaluation/Altering Plan
Make necessary alterations to students learning plan. If students have shown improvement temporarily remove them from the academic monitoring card which can be a measure of growth and improvement
Document all changes and new recommendations to determine intervention and continuation of the student learning plan
