Ranginui and Papatuanuku are the parents of Tawhirimatea. They have lots of children but they are all male and they are forced to live in cramped darkness between them.
Ranginui is the sky father, he was split form his love Papatuanuku who is the earth mother, which formed the vault of havens. If Maori looked up the the sky they would see the sun of god.
Papatuanuku
He is the god of the wind and weather. He got really mad that his parents were separated apart so he ripped out his eyes and crunched them up and threw them in the sky and now they are the seven sisters.
