the voting system was outdated because the 3rd estate that made up 97% of the population were outvoted by 3% of population in the 1st and 2nd estates.
these ideas were brought about by the nobles, not the clergy, in the second estate who were still subject to taxes. the nobles got of these ideas from the American Revolution which they partially aided
The estates general was called because of the dire financial crisis the country was in. Louis wanted to raise the taxes again. But when the 3rd estate start to riot, they are kicked out. This leads to the tennis court oath
