Protection
Critical component of immune system. Lymphocytes multiply readily in Lymphatic fluid which attack foreign organisms which is filtered out of systemic circulation into lymph ducts.
Absorption of Fats
Accepts broken down fat molecules that are too large to enter capillaries and therefore travel within lymphatic tissue until deposited into the blood.

Routes of Drainage
Right Lymphatic Duct
Serves the right upper quadrant of the body only. Including: The right arm, shoulder and mammary vessels as well as the right side of the head.
Thoracic Duct
Serves the remainder of the body including: The left side of the head, Left upper quadrant, shoulder, breast and arm, Lower abdomen, pelvis and both limbs.
