PROPORTIONALITY AND STRUCTURES
PROPORTIONALITY
Proportion means to compare two compositions, to calculate the ratio or the ratio between them.
Equality is a relationship with a 1: 1 ratio. Two figures are equal when they overlap and coincide on all sides and angles
TESSELLATIONS
A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps. There are tessellations of triangles, squares and hexagons.
SCALES
A scale is the proportion between the mesures of the drawing and the reality.
Full 1:1
Enlargament 2:1
Reducing 1:2
TRANSLATION
A translation "slides" an object a fixed distance in a given direction. The original object and its translation have the same shape and size, and they face in the same direction. (for example a bed)
ROTATION
Any rotation is a motion of a certain space that preserves at least one point.
TRIANGULATION
Triangulation is the division of a surface or plane polygon into a set of triangles. We cut the figure with triangles to make it easyer to copy the figure.
SYMMETRY
A geometric object has symmetry if there is an "operation" that maps the figure/object onto itself.
REFLECTION SYMMETRY
We copy de figure in the other side of the line of sYmmetry starting from the nearest side. (laik a mirror)
ROTATIONAL SYMMETRY
The image is rotated (around a central point) so that it appears 2 or more tim
SIMILARITY
Isn't the same that proportionality. The shape is the samebut the size is different. We can add different elements.
