Training Implementation
Definition
Training implementation is the next step to training design whereby you execute your strategic plan into action. This is where all tactics and strategic plans will be transformed into action and performance. This is an essential step for the training plan and design to work out.
Ways to Implement Effective Training Programmes
Engage your Employees
How well your employees engage with your training will determine how successful it will be. You need to ensure that the programme is adding value to their careers.
Get the timing right
It is crucial that the training method is convenient for the audience as ineffective training methods may become a time and resource drain on your employees. Effective training programmes focus on quality over quantity, so make sure your training does not drag out too long or endlessly intrude on their personal time.
Define goals
The first step to any successful plan is to have clearly defined goals that are measurable. Ensure that short and long-term company goals or objectives are clearly defined, and identify possible training to meet those goals.
Track results
By measuring your goals before and after the training, you are making sure that your training programme is delivering your desired results for both your company and your employees. This should take place a few months after implementing your employee training session, giving your employees the time and opportunity to adjust and implement their new skills.
Challenges faced when implementing training programmes
Inconsistent training materials
Being consistent about what is taught, and how it is taught, is a huge challenge for companies, especially large corporations that rely on a number of trainers to train hundreds of employees every year. It is extremely difficult to ensure that every trainer follows the same agenda and uses the same teaching style.
Successfully applying the training
It is not enough to just tell your new employees what their job is or what your company rules are - it's your responsibility to make sure you have provided everything they need to actually be successful in their jobs. Many companies have no system in place for ensuring that new employees are correctly applying their training on a daily basis.
Training employees who aren't local
Sometimes the best talents are acquired from another city, state, or even country. Relocation can seriously delay or hinder the orientation and training process.
Keeping employees engaged
In general, most employee-orientation programmes are a bit boring. Hopefully necessary information is being provided in these programmes, but no one relishes the idea of sitting through lectures about health insurance, paid time-off, and company policy.
