As students, everyone loves and appreciates any chance to boost our grades. Currently, rewrites seem great to us but what do they mean for our future?
Argument One (Teachers not scrambling or rewriting tests)
The purpose of rewriting tests never happens. The purpose is to give students a second chance to know the material. But whether you mean to or not your brain will recognize the exact questions and most likely remember what you wrote for that question
By not rewriting tests the questions are easily passed on to next years grade.
If teachers don't rewrite the tests then the students are just memorizing the answers
Doesn't encourage the student to study
Argument Two (Less second chances in adulthood)
Diminishes the concept of a deadline and when things need to get done they need to get done first try without any second chances to fix that mistake.
Many parents have complained that test retakes is simply just a "safety net" and is making their children less inclined to put their best efforts first
With students who are given access to rewrites aren't set up properly for failure. If they fail a test and their teacher allows rewrites, technically they do not fail because a second chance was just handed to them
Students who take rewrites are more likely to fall into a spiral or depression when they face failure for the first time in adulthood because they are not used to failing because in their school life they always had a chance to redo their failure.
Argument Three (Laziness and lack of studying)
Students knowing that if they can simply retake the test if they get a mark that they're unhappy with gives some students the power to just not study and then ask for a retake later on.
To easy to take advantage of the privilege of having rewrites
Students having the mindset of "if I don't do well I'll just do a retake" leading to lazy studying
Having the attitude of "as long as I pass".
Concluding Sentence
Overall allowing students to take rewrites is a bad idea. It takes away from the point of taking a test, provokes lazy studying, bad mindsets, and not setting students up for adulthood properly. If we want a solution to this problem we should just take away rewrite options from all schools.
General Information
Most teachers have very strong opinions on rewriting a test or exam. Many times rewrites are not an option but yet a lot of rewrites happen anyways
The true purpose of rewrites is that it is an extra activity or experience for the student to learn the information.
Many students take advantage of rewriting tests and uses them as a way out of studying the first time.
The point of rewrites is to have students graduate with at least a passing grade for their futures have more opportunities. For many new generations get jobs easily
Some teachers believe that retakes water down the true meaning of what a test really is

Rewrites should be taken out of the school system because they have multiple negative effects and they don't help students with their futures.
