To promote the mana of Ngāti Toa Rangatira by enhancing the social, economic, educational, cultural and spiritual development of all tribal members, in an open and responsive manner by enabling them opportunities to attain their full potential for the benefit of the Iwi and the community.
The Resource Management and Communications Team (RMCT) is made up of 3 full-time staff members; the Resource Management Advisor, Communications Advisor and Manager. It is also important to recognise the advisor’s, contract staff and volunteers from the iwi that assist us in our mahi. The work that we do is broad and extremely important to the iwi, we cannot do it on our own.

The Wairau incident had its origins in the migration of Ngāti Toa and its allies from Kāwhia to the Kāpiti region of the southern North Island.
KAITIAKITANGA
One of the main aim’s is to grow the opportunities for the iwi within the resource management and environment domain. Not only is our team responsible for managing Ngāti Toa’s ongoing participation in resource management issues and processes but we also have a role in enhancing opportunities for the exercise of Ngāti Toa’s role as kaitiaki and promoting the overall sustainability of the environment. These opportunities may be realised through education, active kaitiakitanga, contract operations, management, restoration and involvement with other community groups
