Teaching in the Saviors Way
TEACH BY THE SPIRIT
Invite Spirit Into My Teaching
Do all I can to invite the spirit of learning into my class
Use soft music, uplifting quotes,
My personal prayer of faith will bless me with the Spirit to teach
Be Flexible
remember the best teaching moments are unexpected
Listen for promptings as I plan and teach
Be willing to change lesson plans, it's more important to follow impressions than to cover specific amount of material
Record Impressions
Record impressions when they come about a lesson
Recording impressions show the Lord I value his direction, he will bless me with more direction
Teach my students to record when they feel an insight
LOVE THOSE YOU TEACH
Pray By Name For Those You Teach
pray by name for students with greatest need
pray to know and understand students specific needs
pray for students hearts to be prepared
Find Simple/Appropriate Ways To Express Love
simple complements, take interest in individual, listen carefully, involve student, acts of service, warmly greet
Focus on students
Allow students to help with set up of class, so that I can find more time to interact with class
Be Patient And Persistent
not everyone will positively respond right away
never give up
trust in the Lord's timing
Use Stories and Examples to Teach
stories and parables help learners understand how concepts apply in their lives
use examples from my own life to make concepts come alive
Invite learners to share their own stories and experiences
Admit When I Don't Know The Answer
sometimes I may need to admit I don't know the answer
Suggest studying for answer and coming together again to discuss
redirect learners back to concepts we do know and understand
Use Variety of Teaching Methods
use stories
use visual aids
use music
use hands on
INVITE DILIGENT LEARNING
Encourage Learning Outside of Class
Ask learners to share what they are learning
Invite a class member to teach a particular concept to class
give learner specific invitations to learn outside of class
Put Responsibility On Learners
learners are ultimately responsible for their own learning
Assure learners that I am not looking for a specific answer, just genuinely curious about what they learned
Ask learners what they have learned from a particular concept
Allow Everyone To Take Part
remember to thank those that contibute for their comments
"lets hear from someone who hasn't shared yet" and that's an interesting comment. What do the rest of you think?"
divide learners into pairs or discussion groups
TEACH THE DOCTRINE
