Alfheim- where the light elves live
Hel- where the dead go who did not die bravely in battle
Asgard- where Odin makes his home
Yggdrasil
A mighty ash tree that is the most perfect and beautiful of all trees. It grows between the nine worlds, and joins them.
Life of Yggdrasil
Ratatosk, a squirrel who lives in the branches and takes gossip from Nidhogg to the eagle, and enjoys telling lies to both of them to provoke anger,
A hawk who perches between the eagles eyes.
Four stags who graze the huge branches.
Countless snakes at the base of the tree, biting at it's roots.
There is an eagle who waits on the highest branches.
The dragon, Nidhogg lives in the waters near its deepest root, always gnawing at it from below.

Yggdrasil is the world tree. Within it's branches are all the different worlds which hold beings of all kinds. Midguard is the world of humans, Asgard is the home of the gods along with many others, all of which hold a place on the tree of Yggdrasil. Creatures of all kinds are also present inside and between the worlds. They all have an act within the tree as well as influence over the destinies of humans within Midguard.
