Ethical Issues
Informed Consent
Evaluation studies are monitored by a review board to ensure that participants are aware they are participating in a study.
Participants are asked to sign a form stating that they have been informed of these facts and agree to participate in the study.
Confidentiality
Evaluation may involve asking certain questions that is embarrassing or lead to adverse treatment by others if made public.
Steps should be taken to ensure the confidentiality of information collected during an evaluation study.
Withholding training
Research designs involving control groups require that some employees receive training while others do not.
Employees who did not received training might feel unfair when their colleagues are able to attend training and be benefited from those training.

Use of Deception
An investigator may feel it will yield better results if employees do not realise they are in an evaluation study, or if they are given false or misleading information during the study.
Deceived employees may feel betrayed and angry with management, damaging a trust that is difficult to reestablish.
Deception should be as minimal as possible, and inform the employees right after.
