The Bible is of importance to Christianity as it contains the principal beliefs, core teachings and guide to personal devotion which are essential to the identity of the religion as it undergoes changes to meet the needs of its adherents at the time
The principal beliefs are the nature of divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ - both found in the New Testament, God and the Trinity - found in the New and Old Testament, Revelation and Salvation

Ethical teachings are lessons which adherents apply to their everyday lives. The core ethical teachings for Christianity are the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament and the Beatitudes and Jesus' commandment for love in the New Testament
