Women experienced big change which included: voting, more independence in dress and sexuality, and they were able to join the workforce now.

religion
Religion became very popular during the 1950s. People were trying to recover from World War II and the Korean War was happening as well. The 1950s are when they added “Under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance. It also saw the rise of civil rights which were led by religious people of color in the South.
Youth Rebels
Young people rebelled a lot against society. They embraced rock music which was frowned upon by society. The young people also rebelled in how they dressed and acted. It was portrayed in literature and in movies (Rebel Without a Cause).

McCarthyism
McCarthyism had a significant impact on society. It caused Americans to be overly afraid of Communism and to distrust their neighbors. People were paranoid and several people were falsely accused of being Communist.

Immigration and WW2
Revolutions were very prevalent during the 1960s. Civil rights, sexual attitudes, and fashion were all the focus of various revolutions. All families were impacted by these revolutions because they either included someone involved or they knew someone who was impacted by one of them.

Entertainment
The changes to entertainment were significant. Jazz was invented, sports changed because they allowed minorities to play more (specifically black people), and movies were invented and became popular.
