- - - - Animals carry the same basic functions.
        
        The major functions of animals are two keep internal conditions stable, move, reproduce, and obtain food and oxygen.
        
        Behaviors or structures that allow animals to perform basic functions in their environments are called adaptations.
  - - - Animals feed on plants, animals, or both.
        
        They have adaptations that allow them to eat certain kinds of foods.
        
        Ex: A tarantula could have an adaptation of things to be used to pierce other animals in suck up their juices.
        
        This food provides animals with raw materials for growth and gives energy for their bodies. Also for activities such as moving and breathing.
    - - The body cells need oxygen to release energy from food.
        
        Ex: Animals get there are very different ways. Birds get oxygen from air. Fish get oxygen from water.
  - - - The animal cannot survive for long if the balance is lost.
        
        Ex: Cells that get too hot start to die and then animals in hot environments are adapted which means they have adaptations options to keep their body cool. Lizards crawl into shady places, dogs pant, and earthworm stay in moist soil during blazing days.
  - - - Animals like Barnacles and oysters move from place to place only during the earliest stage of their life. When they find a good place to attach they stay in one place.
    - - Ex: Barnacles wave structures that are feathery through the water to trap tiny food particles. Many geese fly many miles each spring to the place where they lay eggs. A cat claws its way up a tree trunk to escape from a barking dog.
  - - - Many animals reproduce sexually which is when a new organism develops from the joining of two sex cells a male sperm cell and a female egg cell. The joining of a sperm cell and an egg cell is called fertilization.The sperm and egg cells that carry information about the characteristics of parents and produced them like size and color.
        
        Having a combination of characteristics from both parents resulting from sexual reproduction from new individuals.
        
        Some animals can reproduce sexually and asexually.
        
        Asexual reproduction is the process in which a single organism produces a new organism identical to itself.
        
        Ex: Sea anemones sometimes split down the middle and produce two identical organisms.

        Ex: The nervous tissue is it tissue which carries messages in form of electrical signals from one part of the body to another.
        
        Ex: Bone tissue is a hard tissue that gives bones strength.

        A system is a group of structures that perform the broadest functions of an animal.
        
        Ex: Skeletal system.

        All vertebrates are classified in only one phylum and all the other animal phyla contain invertebrates.
        
        97 percent are invertebrates of all the other types of animals.
