PISO IN SYRIA (SET TEXT)
SUMMARY
Piso was starting a plan once in Syria to make the legions unfavourable with the people. He allowed the soldiers to run riot and removed the long serving centurions.
Plancina wasn't acting like a woman should, and was insulting Germanicus and Agrippina.
-
PURPOSES FOR THE CHANGES
-
Piso wanted to cause trouble so that peace would be less tangible. Also, to make the army unpopular.
-
-
-
Germanicus needed to secure Armenia as it was the buffer zone to the Roman Empire and unconquered land/ people.
-
TRI-COLON
'desidiam in castris, licentiam in urbibus, lascivientes per agros milites sinebat'
A list of negative words next to each other, makes it seem worse than if they'd been separated
the last part of the list 'lascivientes ... sinebat' has a slightly changed structure to the other two

ASYNDETON
'cum veteres centuriones, severos tribunos demovisset'
-
'Agrippinam, in Germanicum contumelies iaciebat'
