The Red Bandana Movie vs. Book
Differences
the book mentioned Wells backstory and the movie was only about the 9/11 attack
It goes into more detail about Wells life as a kid and as a teenager and as a college graduate and as a firefighter in the book not the movie
the movie only mentioned the 9/11 attacks but in the book it didn't mention or say anything about the 9/11 attacks but in the movie it does
In the beginning of the book, the colors/scenery are light and only gets dark when it starts talking about the attacks. In the movie, it's all kind of dark because it is of interviews people are giving during the worst moment of their lives.
One big difference was that the movie was set up like a documentary of the 9/11 attacks with the story of Welles put in there, but the book really focuses on Welles and tells a story rather than being like a bunch of interviews.
Similarities
In the book and the movie, the red bandana symbolizes hope for the people who were trapped in the towers. They knew that the red bandana was the man who was saving people even though they didn't know him right away.
Both the movie and the book describe the attacks on the Twin Towers on 9/11
The message of the book and the movie was about sacrifice yourself so others can live.
In both the book and the movie, his college days at Boston college were described and his friends gave interviews in both the book and movie describing those days.
the movie describes what really happened in 9/11 of the twin towers getting crashed or destroyed by a plane
Plot Points for the movie
he saved lives but risking his own life
he needed to save people's lives from and he knew what he had to do about it
Personal Responses
I like the book better. I liked it better because it told us about Welles' back story and gave us more information about his life. I think it was more descriptive and gave me a better picture about how Welles was as a person.
I learned that nonfiction was pretty interesting. I still like fiction books, but the nonfiction book went into more detail because someone who was actually there could describe what really happened. The nonfiction book was kind of better than other books we read because I knew it was real and makes me more interested in what is going on. I learned that I am in high school just like he was and that in just a few years I would be his age when he saved all of those people.
Plot Points the book
he knows whatever he had to do he had to do it fast as he can to save lives from the burning twin towers for people
he wanted to do anything to save people's lives from the twin towers being burned to the ground even if it means risking his own life to die for the people to live or survive and not go to their own death
