Teaching in The Saviors Way
Love Those You Teach
See others the way God sees them, or in other words, see their potential rather than where they are at now
The way you treat them is just as important as what you teach them
Try to understand those you teach
Prepare lessons with students in mind
Pay attention to struggling students and do your best to help them
Teach the Doctrine
Use trusted resources
Help students apply what they learn
Use music, stories, art, and object lessons to help things be understood and fun
Don't just answer students questions, help them answer each others questions
Admit if you don't know something
Allow your students to be creative and share with and teach each other
Set your expectations and help them follow them
Use available technology when appropriate
Invite Diligent Learning
Don't just assign homework, invite them to have learning experiences at home
Give students responsibilities, either assign ahead of time or during class
Show your confidence in your students! If you treat them like they're smart amazing people, they will act like it
Encourage them to share what they learned on their own
Study journals for at home maybe?
Ask questions to find out what they know and how you can help them know more
Invite self evaluation through good questions
Don't just teach at them, have discussions with them
Ask questions that require thinking and allow time to think
Follow up on assigned things, have accountablility
Encourage families to help their students
Encourage students to learn together and support each other
Teach by the Spirit
Pray, even if silently for the Spirit to help you and your students minds to be open
Be Flexible, you're always a teacher and you're always teaching, even when you're not teaching a lesson. Help your students learn, not just cover material
Always be trying to learn new things, if you expect your students to learn, you have to do it too.
Record impressions, so that the next time you teach, you can do it better than the last
Create a good, happy learning environment. Have your class prepared ahead of time
Be available and accessible to your students, let them know they can always ask you questions
Plan your lessons ahead of time
Use your resources and adapt accordingly
