What does the narrator's encoded subjectivity do to our understanding of the medieval text?
Medieval Narratology and (a little bit about) Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
...sort of... don't expect any conclusions because I don't have any to offer you. It would be more appropriate if this were titled: "How long can Brianne postpone making a definitive conclusive statement?"
The answer is the entirety of this five minute presentation ;)

The majority of what I thought could be potential sources for my research on medieval narratology turned out to be unhelpful (at least for I was trying to examine). Many would have taken me down a very deep rabbit hole (Hi, Todorov), or their work focused on arguing the need for more serious study to be performed on medieval narratology (I'm looking at you Contzen). And then there was the issue of focusing on a single text... which obviously isn't against the rules, but I need to be very wary of how close I get to the rabbit hole. It takes much less than Todorov's Poétiques to send me down that spiral.
