Virtuous errors: when children try to apply a grammatical rule towards a word, however that particular rule does not correspond to that rule. For example, when a child says "I swimmed" they are actually being quite logical in their formation of past tense and using the regular ending. Due to this irregular occurrence that dismisses the use of "ed" to show past tense, the child utterance is incorrect, even through there attempt was very acceptable. This supports the ideas behind Chomsky as children are shown applying grammatical rules, however due to the inconsistency of some English words, their inclusion does not fit.
