Longitude and latitude
Geographers use longitude and latitude to pinpoint precise locations on the Earth's surface. Lines of latitude are invisible lines drawn over the Earth, they circle the Earth from east to west.
The equator lies at 0 degrees, halfway in between the North and South poles.
The Tropic of Cancer lies at 23.5 degrees north and the Tropic of Capricorn lies at 23.5 degrees south. The part of the Earth that is found between these two lines is called the tropics.
Lines of longitude run north and south. 0 degrees longitude is called Prime Meridian;it passes through the Royal Greenwich Observatory in Greenwich UK.
Climate
A chloropleth map is a map which uses different shading or colouring to show the average values
of a particular quantity in certain areas.

The rainfall is spread out unevenly throughout Asia. The highest/heaviest rainfall cities are Ujung Pandang and Singapore. The lowest rainfall cities are Tehran and Urumqi(middle east). An anomaly would be Ankara as the rest of Turkey has a medium average rainfall.
Tropical Cyclones
Tropical storms lie 30 degrees north and south of the Equator. They come from the east and travel to the west. They form between the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. The storms head towards land. They can only happen over water of 27 degrees plus temperatures. They are not distributed around oceans in latitudes higher than 30 degrees.
The Saffir-Simpson scale is the scale of how to measure hurricanes, 1 is the less high winds and 5 is the very high winds.

Child policy
China
In 1979 a one child rule was introduced in China. It was brought in because of the concerns of China's population. If a couple had 2 children they would be charged with a large fine.
There were exceptions however, for example, if the first child was female. The policy saved about 400 millions births from happening and the fertility rate has dropped from 5.7 in 1960 to 1.5 in 2011
However, this rule made a large gender imbalance in China
Singapore
Singapore also had a high birth rate, they publicised through TV on the advantages of having a smaller family.

Also it caused increasing development of Singapore, meaning that more women followed careers rather than starting a family
