Differentiation strategies for my class of 22 students
Begins with Pre-assessment
Differentiate 3 ways
The 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Alternative strategies
Extend the activity
Let them teach
Provide choices that allow them to challenge themselves. options include using tic tac toe
Open ended questions
Online educational games that require students to apply what they have already learnt. This will allow these students to move at their own pace and free up teacher time to work with the students that need reteaching. Examples include www.mathletics.com
My differentiation strategy
INTRODUCE COMPACTING FOR HIGH ACHIEVERS
Start by eliminating content that student already knows. Some students may be excused form specific class sessions, while others may skip certain chapters in the text or learning activities
Offer challenging activities for time provided by compacting
individual or small group projects using management plans
Interest or learning centers
Opportunities for self directed learning
Mentors to guide in learning advanced content
