To what extent is knowledge in the natural sciences finite?
To what extent can the scientific method allow for infinite knowledge creation?
https://physicsworld.com/a/first-images-of-a-black-hole-unveiled-by-astronomers-in-landmark-discovery/
May 2019 Black hole photograph proved Einstein's theory of black holes, before the truth was believed as newtons laws of gravitation.
To what extent can the scientific method allow for the creation of infinite truths?
To what extent can infinite knowledge and therefore, truths be created in the natural sciences?
Absolute truth, why and how does it change
How can we consider soemthign as true without having gone through the full experimentation and scientific method?
To what extent can an absolute truth exist in the natural sciences?
Technology develops, allows us to do more testing (experimentation process)
Scientific method/process
Research question: remains the same
Background information: improves over time as technology develops
Aim: remains the same
Hypothesis: Changes as we get access to more knowledge
Variables: might change if new ones are discovered
Apparatus improves allowing to discover knowledge that was not possible
Method/Procedure
Data Collection
Data Processing
Observations: Improve as technology improves
Interpretation: can change
Evaluation
Conclusions
KC: Absolute truth does not exist in NS
Over time we will keep developing knowledge as more great minds are born and our pool of shared knowledge grows. Because there is more knowledge available more scientists will create more theories to find out if their theory is right or wrong. If a theory gets disproved that will leads to more questions and predictions. More questions and critiques challenging the truth which could guide scientists away from the truth as some theories would get disproved.
Even if theories are disproved and don't become as true anymore does not mean the scientific community is getting farther away form the truth. This is because in the natural sciences we need to study every single case to get the truth, and even if you find what is false that is 100% false then it is still closer to the truth because we are still gaining valuable knowledge.
We are getting closer to the truth but not finding the absolute truth
KCC: Absolute truth does exists
