B. Assess:
I will assess every week by 1. Give students some numbers and ask them to count out certain objects; 2. Give students some objects to count and write down the right number.
5 students who can count and write numbers correctly.
A. Differentiation:
Students will 1. Use concrete objects to build up stairs to understand the process of counting up and counting down; 2. Find missing numbers without using concrete objects; 3. Use the help of counters to understand hidden number pairs in each number, especially for number 5 and 10.
Put numbers in order and write the missing numbers.
Use counters to find hidden numbers/number pairs in each number.
Number Stair
B. Assess:
I will assess every week by 1. Give missing number work sheets; 2. Give some numbers and ask students to use counters to show 2 parts of those numbers.
5 students who can't count correctly and can't identify numbers.
A. Differentiation:
Students will learn how to count by playing counting games with concrete objects, and build up understandings of the relationship between quantities and written numbers.
Partner game: Who gets the precious marble?
In a jar of blue marbles, put one pink marble inside. Students take turns to roll the dice, count the dots and take that many marbles from the jar without looking. Whoever gets the pink one out first wins.
Play-doh Math
Make little play-doh balls to show the quantity of numbers.
Partner game: "Cup War"
Students take turns to roll the dice, count how many dots on the dice and get that number of tops to fill their own cups. Whoever fills up the cup first wins.
