The fear of clowns
Coulrophobia means a persistent and irrational fear of clowns. It possibly originates from Greek Kolon meaning stilt or stilt-walkers which are often used by clowns.
Scientists and doctors now agree that it is a result of not knowing who lies behind the excessive makeup, red nose and hair color.
It is said that the phobia develops in early years, when children are very sensible to an unfamiliar face in a familiar body.
around 12% of adults in the US suffer from a fear of clowns. the fear usually starts at a young age.
