Frost bite
Fingers and toes most common places, death of body tissues from being cold

Fracture
Break in the bone, do not try to fix please see a doctor
Dislocation
Moving the bone from a joint, please domt move

Strain
From stretching a muscle, treat like a sprain and ice

Compression check
Check skin color and temp, check pulse
Slings
Elbow must be straight, wrist must be above elbow, can be made out of lots of things
Neck or spinal injuries
Most serious of all bone or joint injuries because of the spine. If someone has one please don’t move them

Wound classification
Apply pressure, never take cloth off of wounds put new cloth on top, control bleeding
Minor wound care
Lacerations, puncture, injection,
Signs of infection
Swelling, pain, redness, edema, pus

Objects in wounds
If it is on the top of a wound get it out, if buried deep leave

Lecture 2
Shock
Can happen to anyone, treat based on what is observed. Never do care you are not trained to do
Poisoning
Can be from plants, chemicals, bites, and other things that can be inhaled, splashed, or injected on or in someone
Burns
1st degree- redness, only top layer is birmed
2nd degree- all down to superficial layer is burned, scars occur
3rd degree- all layers of skin are burned
