To Autumn

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;"
(lines 1-2)
The first line distinguishes autumn from the other seasons, while the second line sets up the personification of autumn throughout the poem.
"Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?"
(line 23)
Keats misses Spring.
"Ripeness to the core"
Suggests that Autumn is the best season and represents the peak time in life. Everything could start to decline as nothing can improve.
