        All Muslims who are financially able and past the age of puberty have to give away 2.5% of their savings every year. If they give more, then this is called Sadagah - non compulsory/voluntary charity.
        
        They give money to: The poor and needy; People in debt; POW; New Muslims; Travellers who need money; Schools; Hospitals; Libraries; Mosques and Muslims studying Islam.

        It's an act of worship
        
        It is a duty
        
        People who pay it should not feel proud and good about themselves
        
        It helps to make a fairer society
