Sources
-
-
A source
Something which emits light. It will either produce its own light or it will reflect the light of something else
-
Light
Refraction
The higher the refractive index the greater the refraction and therefore the greater change in direction (this is unless the light comes in at the normal)
-
Light bends towards the normal from a less dense medium to a more dense medium and the away from the normal from a more dense medium to a less dense medium
-
-
Snell’s law
A formula used to describe the relationship between the angles of incidence and refraction, when referring to light or other waves passing through a boundary between two different isotopic media, such as water, glass or air

-
The ray model of light
-
Light travels in straight lines: use a ruler to draw light rays, add an arrow for direction from the source to the screen
-
Images
Real
Can be projected, light rays can pass through the image
Virtual
Can’t be projected, light rays can’t pass through the image (mirror)
