Finality Rule
If a witness is questioned as to their credibility, their answers are treated as final and no rebuttal evidence can be introduced
Somers (1999): D couldn't introduce disciplinary record to rebut denial of having a disciplinary record
Scope of the rule
Limits questioning relating to W's credibility, but not to those facts in issue
Court does allow evidence to be introduced to show W is lying about the current incident (Funderburk 1990)
But there are inconsistent decisions on whether evidence of lying about previous incidents can be introduced
