A Mind Map of My Goals

Changing Sports

My goal is to learn the rules of the game before playing the sport so that while playing the game I would be able to understand how the game works. This will also allow me to follow the rules of the game more easily and have fewer faults.

Strategies

This will help me adapt to the sport quicker because I would already be familiar with the rules and how the game works.

Being familiar with the rules will also ensure that we make fewer mistakes (lose points) and less confusion.

Having a strategy will help our team do better because each individual would know their role in the team and allows each member to see how their part contributes to the team effort.

Team

Changing Team

Being (know as) the "weakest" team

Captain

I will face pressure of making the right decisions for my team. This may include affecting someone's emotions or making another team mad at you for choosing their team to be disadvantaged.

I want to make decisions based on my other team mate's opinions and what I think would be best for the team so that we have a higher chance of winning.

Losing

When there are a lot of rules, I tend to forget all of the rules sometimes when playing the game the first couple of times.

I will also watch videos of how professionals playing the game which will inspire me to play better or develop strategies.

Learning different skills

Sometimes I get quite discourage when we lose, especially when the game was a close match.

I like to use this as an opportunity to reflect on where I have gone wrong and how to improve for in the future.

I use this as a motivation to improve and wanting to play better for the next time we are against the team.

I think that having my teammates opinions will help assure me that my decision is a better choice because I know that they are supporting me and agreeing. This will help us work better as a team because we will be able to work together and discuss our opinions and ideas.

Giving feedback

I think that sometimes I can be a bit harsh to my teammates while playing the game because I have a very competitive mindset. I can be very direct with them (for example telling them to run more).

I think that I am able to give effective feedback to my teammates so that they know how they are able to improve in the next game or even during the game.

Encouragement

I think that I will be able to encourage my group well by complimenting them or telling them we played well that day.

Encouraging my teams mates will motivate and encourage them to play better.

I believe that I am quite athletic therefore it would be easier for me learn new skills

I don't have that much hand-eye ball coordination (however, this has greatly improved from tennis), therefore this will be an area that I might struggle in.

Deciding who leaves the team

I think that it would be hard for me to chose someone to move out from the team.

It would be easiest for me if someone volunteered themselves to leave the team because this shows that they also agree to leave the team therefore I won't feel as bad

Adjusting to the new team member

Change and adjust our positions in the sport

Changing the strategy

Develop new ideas for the strategy based on their ideas, or from knowing the strategy of their past team

Use their strength

Not being able to develop a certain skill in the short amount of time

If I struggle to develop a certain skill, then I will use the other skills that I have developed or that I am better in while playing the sport. (Using my strengths rather than weaknesses)

Ask Ms. LP or my teammates for help

Ask them what I'm doing wrong

any tips or how to practice to improve in this area

I am quite competitive and I don't like losing. But I am able to get over it easily through my experiences of losing a lot of matches in tennis.

Situation Box

Team getting an advantage (starting with additional points)

I might get annoyed that we are not able to win because of the situation.

It is also fair because the other teams have to face other situations as well on other days.

This would benefit our team with the situations are beneficial for us.

Planning and having a strategy allows us to have a realistic view of our current strength and weaknesses relative to our opponents.

Then we can craft strategies to take advantage of their weakness. This also increases our chances of winning.

Although my team is and is known to be the weakest team, my goal is to not let that thought allow us to fall back behind. But instead, use that as a motivation for us to prove others wrong and play my best and be determined to win.

Dealing with weaker teammates

Encourage them and letting know that they are important in the team

Understand that they are trying their best as well and that they feel pressure to perform well

Put them in positions that they feel most confident in so that they will be able to perform better in that area

Don't exclude them, pass the ball to them as well so they don't feel discourage that they're not good enough

Don't let this term pull our hopes and sprites down and continue to have a determined spirit to win
