Thinking Creatively - Performance Ideas (Outfits/Costumes (Lean On Me…

- - - - Street-wears mixed with grunge and something edgy would be an amazing style for we will rock you because they have many different flaws in them with the chains and neons. It's eye catching. The style is quite rebellious and with the song "We will rock you" message is sort of we're rebellious, free and this is what we want. A specific color to wear would be red and black because those are the main color that represents mystery and boldness. (Manivann)
- - - - We could sing and preform this song in a very soft way as to give contrast to We Will Rock You. The stage starts off with one person and like the video, everybody else joins in before the chorus. We do simple dance moves during the song. During the "climax" of the song we do a dance move for the audience to participate in. (Helen)
        
        Lean on could be performed in a nice, soothing way, Lean on me can be performed first before We will rock you. We can have simple dance moves that are flowy and calming and not to complicated that it affects our singing. When the lyric "somebody to lean on" singers can get into partners and lean on each other. Everybody can stand in a pyramid shape, one person in front, two behind etc (Manivann)
    - - I think we should start off with Lean On Me as it has a very smooth tone when compared to We Will Rock. We could transition to the song like they did in this video, the tone change could be unexpected and it would build up excitement very quickly. (Helen)
  - - - We could do the choreography when switching the position from the back to the front and vice versa. The movement include someone to extend their fist, then another fist and then clap, following the rhythm of the song. The position should be like a "w" so when switching, there is a gap where you can do the choreography. The front people would do the movement while having their back face the audience.     - - Before anyone starts singing, we can just clap and stomp, this sets the beat, mood and tone for the song. It adds an extra build up to the song. Another idea would to have one person to start of the beat having other people gradually join in to add excitement.(Helen)
- - - - Using this video as an example, we could have the lights change colours while we are doing our performance, this makes the performance look more exciting and it adds to the energy of the song. We could have use it to contrast with Lean On Me if we perform We Will Rock You afterwards. Seeing the Lean On Me is quite different in style, the lighting could be used to provide a contrast.       - For lighting, " We will rock you" is a hardcore song with a strong powerful beat. Using the color red and making it fade away and back the same time as the beat creates suspense and intimidation towards the audience. It sends a curiosity towards audience and to what happens next. The color red is mostly known to represents boldness, attitude and captures many attention.

      - For the introduction lighting of the start of "we will rock you" should be like a beat. There can be three groups on stage and the lights can shine on each group once when it's their turn to clap and stomp. So the the light should take turn shining the group when they are doing the movement to create a heart beat like system. Then when everyone done it once, there should be 3 lights shine on all the group and the light will shine the whole stage when everyone start singing the verse. (Dara)
  - - - Like for the first part of this video, I think it would be best if Lean On Me stuck to only having one colour of lighting (In the video it was purple, but I think in our case we should change it to white) Only having one colour best sets the mood for Lean On Me since it's not a very energetic or active song. (Helen)
- - - - I like how this example of Lean On Me is very jazzy, I think it gives it a very fun and playful tone that might make the audience feel happy. It also has a build up of being relatively calm, but building up to being energetic during the end. Is has a great use of both head and chest voice. The powerful singing during the end would also give way for a transition into We Will Rock You. (Helen)
  - - - For the singing style, I believe we should stay true to the original, meaning that our voices will be very powerful and we will make use of our chest voice. I believe the song wouldn't work well with any other type of singing style. The song is supposed to have a very powerful and strong sound to it so it wouldn't be good to try and change it. The powerful singing also pairs well with the clapping and stomping which is also very iconic to the song, in the official video for the song, the band members can be seen doing it throughout the song.(Helen)
    - - Like this this video, we can start off with either one person or a small group singing the verse, but as we get to the chorus, everybody joins in and sings. This will as more emphasis and importance to the chorus. It will also make the singing more dramatic and powerful. It makes the message of the song a lot more clear as well. (Helen)
